Who we are
Founded in 1984 by industrial wax chemists Tony Ward and Brian Scudder as Ceroform Ltd, on the banks of the River Darent near Dartford, Kent. With their combined knowledge of specialist materials and growing niche markets at the time, they could see opportunities in applications where better formulations would make a measurable difference.
In 1990 we became The Darent Wax Company. Each new sector we entered added to our knowledge and network, and in 1997 we had grown to a size big enough to warrant us building a specially-designed wax blending facility, where our headquarters remain today.
2003 saw the founding of Darent Wax Australia, strengthening our exports and discovering more industries, applications and materials to learn from.
In 2005 we acquired Wilkins Campbell, bringing 130 years of wax blending heritage into the business. Fred Gibson’s textile specialisation followed in 2009. Together these acquisitions added to an extraordinary depth of formulation knowledge, and we continued to build on that knowledge as we do to this day.
In 2015 a management buyout sharpened our focus. We invested in automation, machinery, people and process, and looked to deeper water markets for export partnerships.
The goal remains: Long-term partnerships. Better products. Exceptional work.
What sets us apart
Deep formulation knowledge across a diverse range of applications. We serve aerospace, defence, beauty, agriculture, film, healthcare and elite sports. Each industry we work in leads us to more. A quality standard developed for a jet turbine application raises the bar on a consumer beauty product. A material solution from an arts festival project finds its way into car waxes. That constant cross-pollination is built into how we work.
A formulation library built over 150 years. Our own four decades of development work, combined with the heritage of Wilkins Campbell and Fred Gibson, gives us a solid foundation for most wax challenges.
Custom development at no charge. Our R&D team works on-site, full time, across every sector we serve.
Any scale. Same standards. From a 50-unit market test to a 50,000-unit global run. From 5ml jars to 1000L IBCs. Full documentation, quality standards, and high service levels.
